Pet Portrait Commissions

Each portrait commission is lovingly painted onto stretched cotton canvas using high-quality artist acrylic paint. To ensure longevity each painting is finished with two layers of gloss varnish, safeguarding your artwork from dust and dirt for years to come.

You have the option of choosing between deep edge canvas, ready to hang directly on your wall, or thin edge canvas, perfect for framing in a float frame. You can choose from a range of colors including black, white, or natural wood to complement your masterpiece.

reference photo

To create a beautiful portrait of your pet, it's important to start with a selection of high-quality photos. Choose your favorite images that capture your pet's personality through their facial expressions and positions. While one good quality photo is sufficient, having multiple photos can provide a better understanding of your pet's character.

Photos taken in natural lighting work best—try taking photos near a window or outdoors without direct sunlight. Clear visibility of your pet's eyes is essential, so ensure they're well-lit and in focus. A handy tip is to hold a treat above the camera to keep their attention focused.

I typically use one main photo as a reference for painting, but additional images in various lights and poses can help. I love learning about your pet's personality and stories, as they greatly influence the portrait's portrayal.

If you're unsure about the suitability of your photos, feel free to email me a selection for advice. I can provide guidance on capturing better photos and assess if they're suitable for painting.

I understand that some beloved pets are no longer with us, but I will do my best to work with the photographs you have.

Once you've chosen the size of the painting you want and shared your reference photos with me, I'll be able to give you an accurate completion date and start working on your piece. I'm more than happy to send you progress photos along the way. However, if you prefer, you can wait to see the finished portrait once it's complete. Just let me know what works best for you—I'm here to ensure you're delighted with the final result.

Once I've finished the painting, I'll send you photos to review. Once you're happy with your portrait, you can proceed with the remaining payment. After that, I'll apply two layers of gloss varnish to the painting and wait for it to dry before carefully packaging it for shipping. Your satisfaction and the safe delivery of your artwork are my top priorities.

Next Steps

To ensure your painting arrives to you safe and sound, I take several careful steps. Firstly, I wrap the canvas in a layer of acid-free tissue paper to protect the painting surface. Next, I wrap it in brown kraft paper and secure it with twine. If you'd like to include a gift message, just let me know, and I'll make sure to include it at this stage. The painting is then placed in a sturdy shipping box with ample packing material to safeguard it during transit.

Shipping to UK Mainland is already included in the price of your portrait. For international shipping to the US, there's an additional £30 charge. Rest assured, all deliveries are sent tracked to ensure safe receipt. If you have any further questions or special requests, feel free to reach out.
